Blackout!
I think for the first time in Singapore, we actually experienced such a major blackout. Cool.
I think it was roughly around ten plus and I was surfing the net and replying an sms at the same time, when suddenly everything just came to a halt. Blackout! My first thought was that the electricity tripped. But then I looked over to the other blocks of flats and private land estates and saw that it wasn't only our unit.
It was so cool because I heard the neighbour's excited voices and saw torchlight flashes everywhere. My dad wasn't home so mum and I decided to give him a call. Our land lines were down because all our phones were cordless. The handphone bases were down so I couldn't get him. Surprisingly, I managed to get Esther on the line for a while.
Haha. Apparently my dad was at the void deck when the blackout happenened and had to climb up eight flights of stairs in the dark. Thank god he wasn't in the lift.
I read the interective straits times this morning. Found that they received 20 calls of people trapped in the lift. Haha. Read also that some people tried to call the police hotlines but the lines were all engaged. How could that happen? What if something bad happens and they couldn't get through to the police? Wouldn't that be dangerous???
Found out yesterday night that SSDC also blackout last night. Hmmm... wonder how the last session of students managed to drive in the dark without traffic lights? Haha. Esther was saying that they have the instructors there. But I was laughing and telling her who can count on the instructors?? I mean, the new and inexperienced instructors always dumped to guide the traffic flow. The more experienced ones like Khaniz are probably busy smsing in the car. Haha. =)
