Back from Genting Highlands
Ho HO! Finally back from a 4 day trip to Genting with Esther, Jeraldine and Esther's family. Second time I'm actually tagging along with her family for a short holiday. I only decided to go at the very last minute and her parents had to take time to travel back to the travel agency to collect my train ticket. Such nice parents she has...
The train left at around 10pm on Wednesday night and only reached KL at 6am the next morning. A bumpy but pretty comfortable ride, where I did manage to catch some sleep but woke up every now and then thinking if I should use the train's dirty toilet...
The four days at Genting was pretty eventful and absolutely fun. On Thursday, we went to the theme park after breakfast and sat some rides till we were all dead tired. Jeraldine was pretty weird. She was so excited and didn't feel at all afraid to sit the scariest roller coaster rides but she panicked at the thought of the ferris wheel... does that make sense?!?
On Friday, we went shopping and bowling (they bowled... not me...)and ended up at the arcade at night. That day was extremely eventful and at times hilarious because of certain incidents, though Esther probably didn't think it was at all amusing.
First of all, Joseph fell ill. (Note: This is NOT the amusing part) Because of that, everyone in the two adjoining hotel rooms woke up at around 5am-6am. Apparently, his heart was beating at an alarming rate, so his dad had to rush him to the doctor. Joseph obvously got a scolding because prior to that, he had not taken his antibiotics, which probably led to a relapse. So he came back from the doctor's claiming that he had flu and was nervous, and had concerns from his aunt about whether his heart was still beating. Then, he got another scolding and warning to eat his medicine.
Now for the amusing part. It was like this... Jeraldine wanted to enquire about tickets to the House of Horror rides at the First World Hotel, so we ended up at the ticketing counter. Then, a vampire came and stood behind us. The actual scene was like this - the three of us were standing in a row, with Jeraldine on the extreme left, Esther in the middle, and me, on her right. The vampire's exact location was behind Esther, so from the corner of my eye, I could see that someone had stood behind us. I turned around, and stared at the vampire. I was admiring his face, trying to make out if he was using a mask or make-up. The vampire looked back at me, so I tapped on Esther's shoulder to get her to turn around. She turned and came face to face with the darling vampy. She stared for a moment and let out a scream. The vampire was satisfied and gave me a high-five, and walked away. Jeraldine continued to question the receptionist about the tickets and I wondered away from them. I suddenly realised that a ghost had walked past me, towards Esther's direction. I wanted to warn her.. but too late. Just as I turned my head around, a shrill, loud scream erupted through the indoor theme park area. It was Esther disgracing herself yet again. Everyone turned around, this time and laughed. Haiz. So embarrassing. Later, Joseph and Wei Tao kept scaring Esther. And each time she kept screaming and screaming. Going to be deaf soon. She's so unlike me. I don't have the habit of screaming. Be it shocking or not, I don't have the tendency to erupt into a blood-curling scream. Learn from me, Esther!!! Go watch horror movies!!! Then you won't be scared anymore!!!
As I mentioned, we went to the arcade later, and something happened. To add to that, something else happened to Jeraldine at the hotel later. Both incidents I would not relate it in my blog and so only five people know of what happened, namely - me, Esther, Jeraldine, Joseph and Wei Tao.
Then it was pizza for supper!!!
Then Joseph let out a yell as he ate his medicine. The instruction was to consume the medication once day but he had already ate 3 that day. Haha. Overdoze. Another scolding.
On Saturday, we woke up early for breakfast and then headed to KL for a day of shopping at Bajaya Times Square, where we literally shopped till we dropped.
Then, we headed back to Genting for dinner and a musical, Peter Pan. The musical was excellent. The cast was good, the acting was realistic and the songs were entertaining. But there was only one problem. I didn't like the fairy tale. Its too cruel. How can anyone like this fairy tale which promotes the kidnapping of young girls? I worry when I see the kids throughly enjoying the musical. I mean, I enjoy it too, for the acting and not the fairy tale. I worry for the kids who don't know any better and fall in love with the character Peter Pan, who is in fact a child kidnapper.
Anyway, the musical ended at 10pm where we later went for karaoke with the guys till almost 2am.
On Sunday, we did some more shopping in the morning. Esther decided that she wanted to buy a calligraphy painting for Joseph with the word "ren(3)" or "tolerate". So she appoached the guy at the calligraphy store. She paid up only to realise that the guy had to wait for his wife's arrival because he didn't know how to calligraph. We had to leave at 12.30pm to the train station and the guy insisted that the calligraphy could only be delivered at 12.15pm. We had no choice but to wait. True enough, at 12.15pm, the wife came and started to calligraph it. It was beautiful, with drawings of a fish and I-don't-know-what. But the problem was, none of us could make out the word at all. I guess it was so abstract that no one could understand it. Even Esther's mother looked in disbelief at the painting as she thought that it was a "3". Haha.. it was so hilarious.
Anyway, the taxi was late and only arrived an hour later. So the drivers sped all the way to the station in order to arrive on time. Luckily we did, and had sufficient time to buy food to eat on the train.
So thats about it. The summary of the trip all in my blog. Pictures will be available at my yahoo online photo album.
