Sangdoo, Let's go to school I have never been a fan of Korean dramas because I felt they were super boring serials moving at snail crawling speed. Well, recently, Channel 55 has been showing one Korean drama, which is one of the very very few dramas which actually caught my attention. In fact, I'm so hooked to it now, I'm so gonna buy the vcd of dvd, when one with english subtitles comes up.



In Singapore, the drama is called "My Beloved". But in every other part of the world(including Korea), its called "Sangdoo, let's go to school!" I wonder what's so different about Singapore. What's so wrong with the original title?

Anyway, this drama is a comedy plus a tearjerker.

It's about a young girl and boy who fell in love in high school - their first love. The girl was an adopted daughter of a poor woman who stole money from her neighbours and had to take her children away to hide. The boy was an adopted son of a rich family. Then, in a bid to save the girl's music recorder he accidentially killed someone and had to be placed in a detention center. The girl ran away with her mum, so she didn't know. So when the boy was released, he came out to find his girlfriend gone, and his family had migrated without him knowing. After a one night stand with a stranger, he was left all alone with a sick daughter after 9 months. He ended up going back to his biological uncle, who taught him the tricks to being a sucessful gigglo, to pay off the medical fees.

Many years later, the girl and boy managed to meet again on the streets. The girl is now a teacher with a doctor boyfriend, while the boy is a successful gigglo with a sick daughter. To be near her, the boy first applied to be a guard of the school, and finally ended up being a student in her class. They realise they love each other deeply, but many problems come up.

Firstly, her doctor boyfriend refuses to let go, secondly, he has a very sick daughter to take care of. Thirdly, the mother of his daughter loves him a lot. Fourth, the mother of his daughter turns out to be the biological daughter of the girl's foster mum. Fifth, she doesn't know he once committed murder.

Will they manage to overcome all these? I don't know because I haven't finished the serial yet. But one thing I know is that he can't afford to be student anymore, because of the medical bills. So while he reverts back to his old career, she tries means and ways to get him back to school.


That's Rain, the lead actor. I think he looks good and young.
