A nice February
I love this month a lot because as many people noticed, all the prime slots on channel 8 have been replaced by TVB dramas - and I mean ALL. Yahoo!!! For friends who know me well, they will know that I have been an ardent TVB fan since goodness knows when. I've watched more TVB then I do any other kinds of dramas, and I probably know most of the serials inside out. I've watched
In the Realm of Fancy as well as
Not Just A Pretty Face once and this is the third time I'm watching
Survivors' Law and
Greed Mask. So this is like a real good month for me. No local dramas. Only bad thing is I don't really have that much time or enthusiasm to study.
Oh. I've been grumbling to Esther about the ASTRO Wah Lai Toi award presentation which was held in KL last month. I've been grumbling to her for weeks already. I keep going on and on about how Malaysia has the ASTRO awards presentation and what does Singapore have? Star awards? Sianz, man.
For those who don't know, ASTRO Wah Lai Toi awards is like our star awards except that its for the HK TVB stars and not local stars. Last month, 10 over stars flew over to KL just specially for that night. Can anyone beat that?! That's like WOW!
My favourites like Chilam, Maggie and Myolie were there! Along with others like Raymond Lam, Charmaine Sheh, Christine Ng, Roger Kwok, Ron Ng and so on and so forth.
WAH PIANGZ. HAIZ.
I don't even get to watch a clip of the astro awards. Sian big time. One thing I'm very happy about is that Maggie Cheung Ho Yee got an award for the favourite character of Onn Sin in War and Beauty. Yes! Finally! This award has been long overdue! Good job, Malaysians, for voting on the basis of GOOD ACTING SKILLS and not any other reason.
I have heard about the best actreess controversy about a year back at the 36th TVB anniversary awards which was like about a year back and ya, I agree with the rumours. I'm always complaining to Esther that everytime I watch War and Beauty, I'll cringe and feel like smashing the TV whenever I see Gigi Lai acting as Yukying in there. Definitely the most irriating character with the most exaggerated type of acting. To quote one critical reviewer Funn Lim, Gigi's acting "is worse than overacting, hers is over the mount everest type of acting, as in so over the overacting". You get the idea, and I can tell you Funn isn't exaggerating here.
So there was no way Gigi could have gotten best actress. Her acting was terrible, and terrible is too light a word to describe it, but she got it. Yes. TVB GAVE HER THE FREAKING BEST ACTRESS RECOGNITION when it should have been the other 3 actresses who gave a much more credible performance.
I'm more satisfied with the ASTRO results. Yes! Thank goodness! Gigi wasn't voted in, I think. Lolx!!!
I think I've rambled alot about TVB already. Lolx. I know everyone's like asleep by the time they read this sentence. Haha.
Anyway, getting back to reality...
Despite the midterm break, I'm still having a long week. I have a psychology test as well as a political science essay to hand up on Friday, and a marketing presentation on Saturday. Then its my usual violin lesson in the afternoon.
Oh, the other day, I made the decision to continue my french at Alliance Francaise again. That is because of the pressure and persuasion of friends as well as relatives who feel that its such a waste to give up on a language just as I've been working on it for quite a while. Gosh. I can't really remember much of what I've learnt before. I had wanted to start right from the beginning but the receptionist at AF told me not to waste money and start from the intermediate level. I thought about it for a while and finally heed her advice, so i'm like so stressed out now.
Our former DPM S. Rajaratnam has passed away at age 90 today. I'm watching his documentary now on Channel U...
I think I'll go study now.
